This course is open to all sworn or non-sworn Detention Center staff, medical first responders, or related public service agency personnel

Presented through a combination of classroom lecture and practical exercises, this 2-hour course will provide students with materials that will help them understand the importance of inmate rights and understanding of those that remain while incarcerated. Legal requirements regarding inmate rights will be discussed with an emphasis on the 1st, 4th, 8th, and 14th Amendments.

The following will be specifically discussed:

• Constitutional Law
• Freedoms ensured/retained
• Search and Seizure
• Rights guaranteed/punishments
• Religious requirements
• Rights regarding facilities
• Deputy applications Civil Liability

This is one of the popular classes for both new detention center staff, and those that have been working for many years. Please make plans to attend.

Chad served 23 years in Idaho law enforcement. As a commander, he achieved Advanced Patrol and Level III Detention certificates. At ICRMP, Chad trains law enforcement personnel with the highest level POST-certified training available to law enforcement and offers 30 state-wide certified classes. He also assists agencies in developing their own certified training departments.
