Idaho Jail Standards for Detention Staff

This course is open to all sworn or non-sworn Detention Center staff, medical first responders, or related public service agency personnel.

Presented through a combination of classroom lecture and practical exercises, this 2-hour course will provide students with materials that will help them understand the importance of inmate classification and current legal requirements. Legal duties regarding inmate classification will be discussed with an emphasis on a layered approach to oversight to ensure proper placement for safety and security.

• Farmer vs Brennan
• Deliberate Indifference
• Martin vs Alemeda County
• Sheriff’s office requirements
• Deputy applications
• Civil Liability

Chad served 23 years in Idaho law enforcement. As a commander, he achieved Advanced Patrol and Level III Detention certificates. At ICRMP, Chad trains law enforcement personnel with the highest level POST-certified training available to law enforcement and offers 30 state-wide certified classes. He also assists agencies in developing their own certified training departments.
