
Hostage Survival through Communication for Detention Staff

This course is open to all sworn or non-sworn Law Enforcement personnel.
This newly updated POST certified class includes updated suggestions for all line to command level staff members.
Presented through a combination of classroom lecture and practical exercises, this course will provide students with principles and techniques that will help them better handle a hostage situation inside of a detention center, focusing on both their survival and effective communication to de-escalate the situation. In addition, detention staff will be given instruction on responding to such an incident, to include ICS reviews.
