Riot Control Legal Ramifications and Case Reviews for DRT/SRT Teams

This course is open to all sworn Detention DRT/SRT personnel in Sheriff’s Offices.

Attendees can expect both classroom discussion training with hands-on applications, where problem solving, and decision making will be discussed regarding riots/civil disobedience. Recent national cases will be reviewed, with both court findings and on body camera recordings discussed. State and Federal legal updates for 2026/2027 will be given, and your policy guidelines will be compared.

  • California v Hodari
  • Torres v Madrid
  • Brower v Inyo County
  • Michigan v Chesternut
  • Brendlin v California
  • Florida v Bostick
  • Soldal v Cook County

*Bring your cell extraction uniforms, gear, and equipment, and be prepared for physical drills!

This course has been approved for 2 hours of POST training credit.

Chad served 23 years in Idaho law enforcement. As a commander, he achieved Advanced Patrol and Level III Detention certificates. At ICRMP, Chad trains law enforcement personnel with the highest level POST-certified training available to law enforcement and offers 30 state-wide certified classes. He also assists agencies in developing their own certified training departments.
