De-escalation and Active Shooter Response

This course is open to all sworn or non-sworn City Government and Law Enforcement personnel.

Presented through a combination of classroom lecture and PowerPoint presentation, this 2-hour course will provide students with principles and techniques that will help them better respond to and handle tense interactions during active shooter scenarios to include de-escalation techniques when deadly force response is not warranted.

Topics covered will include:

  • Four-step communication
  • Personnel safety
  • Uninvolved bystanders
  • Video recording devices
  • Mental illness factors
  • Time vs need for action
  • Idaho Code reference firearms/self-protection

Chad served 23 years in Idaho law enforcement. As a commander, he achieved Advanced Patrol and Level III Detention certificates. At ICRMP, Chad trains law enforcement personnel with the highest level POST-certified training available to law enforcement and offers 30 state-wide certified classes. He also assists agencies in developing their own certified training departments.
