DESCRIPTION:Detailed Course Information: Link \nThis course is open to all sworn or non-sworn Command Level Supervisors\, or above\, in any division of Law Enforcement or related public service agency personnel. \nThis 2024 updated POST certified class includes updates for all line to command level staff members. \nPresented through a combination of classroom lecture and practical exercises\, this 2-hour course will provide students with principles and techniques that will help them better handle citizen/suspects that are dealing with mental health crisis. \nTopics covered will include: \n\nKey concepts/definitions\nHow to address officer safety\nMental illness response\nLikely symptoms encountered\nDe-escalation techniques\nCommunication recommendations\n\nThis course has been approved for 2 hours of POST training credit. \nFor more information or to register\, please contact Chad Sarmento @ csarmento@icrmp.org \n\n		\n			\n				\n			\n			\n		 \n		\n			Chad served 23 years in Idaho law enforcement. As a commander\, he achieved Advanced Patrol and Level III Detention certificates. At ICRMP\, Chad trains law enforcement personnel with the highest level POST-certified training available to law enforcement and offers 30 state-wide certified classes. He also assists agencies in developing their own certified training departments.
